Turtletown
What happens when a couple gets stranded in an abandoned town in the middle of nowhere? This happens...
Chapter 1
The light from the car lit up the road and a beeping sound started.
"Shit. We need gas."
Michael and Mary are a couple from New York City. Today they celebrate their 4-year-anniversary by travelling around the State of New York. Michael is a businessman and Mary is a teacher. They had met through a meeting between Mary's school and Michael's company. It was love at first sight. Michael couldn't keep his eyes of Mary's dark curly hair and hazel eyes. She was so beatiful. It took almost a month until Michael could reach Mary again. He asked her to a new meeting just between the two of them. The next day Michael picked up Mary outside her house. Her house were a small one-floor white house with a beatiful garden. He drove her to a café nearby. They bought a coffee each and sat down by a table outside. It was a beatiful day and the birds sang. It was early summer. Mary started talking about her school and the students there. Michael sat and listened. He was paralyzed by her beatiful voice. It was soft like wool almost. Mary looked at Michael and said:
"This isn't a meeting, this is a date." Mary smiled. They both started giggle and Michael asked if she wanted to come to his house. She said yes. They wlaked to his red Ford and he opened the door for her. She smiled politely and sat in the car. Michael closed the door. It was like a movie. He was so happy right now. He walked to other side of the car and sat inside. He started the car and drove away. Mary was wearing a red dress and black high-heels, she had a small red handbag with her. Michael was wearing a black suit. Michael parked the car outside a huge white house. It was a two-floor house.
"That's a big house you got." Mary said.
"Yes, I know." Michael answered.
They went out of the car and into the house. They came into a big hall. In the hall were stairs that reminded Mary of stairs in a castle. It was beautiful. Michael led Mary into the livingroom, which had a black couch with seats for almost ten people, a plasma-TV and a piano.
"Do you play the piano?" Michael asked.
"I used to when I was little, but I barely remember anything now." Mary answered.
"Try."
Mary sat down by the piano and pressed a few keys before she started playing a melody, nothing advanced but it was beautiful. Like rain in the fall, and the sun in the spring, it was relaxing. The piano's tones filled the house. When Mary stopped playing she said:
"That's all I remember."
"It was beautiful."
"Your house is beautiful." When Mary thought of what she just said, she started laughing.
"Let me show you the rest of the house."
Michael's house was big and beautiful. It was like a castle almost, with lots of rooms, and a balcony with a great view over New York. When they were Michael's room, Mary sat down on the big bed.
"It's very soft." She said.
"I know, and expensive." Michael answered.
"Are you rich? I mean, you've got a very big house with expensive furniture."
"Well, as you know, I work for a very rich company, and I get a high salary."
"Of course." Mary smiled and looked down in the floor.
"When I first saw you I thought you were the prettiest woman I've ever seen. But you looked very sad then."
"Yes, well, I had just found out that my ex-boyfriend was cheating on me and I left him, and the day after that my grandmother died, so it wasn't really a lucky week."
"Oh. I'm sorry."
Michael sat on Mary's left side. She was still looking on the floor, but she wasn't smilig anymore. Michael layed his left hand on Mary's right cheek. Mary looked up. They leaned closer to each other. Their lips were less than an inch from the other. They were just about to kiss, when Michael's phone rang.
"Sorry, I really have to take this." Michael took his phone out of his pocket and left the room. Mary heard him talking to someone, but she didn't hear what he said. She walked out on the balcony. It was a beautiful view over New York. She looked down and noticed that the house were on a cliff. Mary didn't notice that Michael was standing behind her.
"Beautiful view, huh?" He said.
"Wow. You scared me there." Mary turned around and looked at Michael. She was smiling. Michael stepped closer and leaned into her face. She did the same. They got closer and kissed each other. It was a magic moment. It was like time had stopped. They heard a thunder in the distance and dark cloud started to appear. They stopped kissing and look up at the sky.
"Maybe we should go inside. It starts to get cold." Mary said and looked at Michael. They went inside and closed the balconydoor. Just as they had closed it started raining. A real skyfall.
"Fucking thunderstorms." Michael said and looked at Mary. She smiled. "Do you want something to eat?"
"No, thanks. I'm not hungry." Mary walked to Michael's bookcase. "You read Stephen King?"
"Yes. My favorite is 'Carrie'."
"Do you live with someone? You can't have this big house for yourself, what do you with all the rooms?"
"I live alone. It gets kind of lonely sometimes to know that I have a big house and no one to share it with." Michael looked sad.
"Oh." Mary looked at Michael, and then at the window. "Can I spend the night here? The rain will probably go on for the rest of the night."
"That would be lovely." Michael said and smiled.
"Shit. We need gas."
